Dear
Fourth through Eighth Grade Parents,
I
am pleased to have your son or daughter in my physical education class for the
2007– 2008 school year. My mission is to
promote successful life traits such as leadership, creative thinking, problem
solving, and positive attitudes while participating in fitness activities from
the curriculum guide. I believe that
learning safety skills, rules, history, and proper technique are key principles
in my curriculum. Goals for these grades
will include learning facts about sports and skills
relating to each unit. Study guides will
be provided to aid the students in preparing for tests. If you have any questions
regarding any of my policies or to find out how your son or daughter is doing in
my class, please feel free to email me at rcole@stpeterskc.org.
Dressing
out it mandatory in 7th and 8th grades physical
education, and is a part of the student’s daily grade. Points are
to
those students who are dressed appropriately.
I also do realize that sometimes
a student will forget them. Therefore,
each student will be given one free dress day per semester.
Shirts
– white or
St. Peter’s shirt from a sponsored sport; they must cover the shoulders
Sweatshirts – any St. Peter’s
sweatshirt is fine.
Shorts
– any color
of shorts that are not below the knee, but no higher than the middle of a
student’s thigh.
(Boxers, any shorts with flys, spandex
leggings, and no lettering on the back side will not be permitted)
Sweat
pants –
traditional cotton and lined jogging sweat pants are permitted.
Dress
Attire for 4th – 6th grades
4th
through 6th grades do not dress out for physical education. However,
they are expected to wear tennis shoes for gym attire. Both boys and girls will be allowed to wear
t-shirts and shorts meeting the criteria above like that of the 7-8 grades
during class, but they must be already on under their polo. St. Peter’s sweatshirts are always
permitted. Please refer to the dress attire above for t-shirts and shorts that will be
permitted.
Daily Grade = 70% (Gym Attire, Participation,
Cooperation, Sportsmanship); Quizzes = 30%.
I
look forward to having a successful school year with your son or daughter.
Sincerely,
Robert
