Auction Parking Spot

Each year it is a tradition at our school auction to sell a prime parking spot for after-school pick-up.  That spot is near the fire hydrant on Charlotte just south of Meyer Blvd. on the north side of our building.  Last year’s highest bidder was the Flynn Family.  Please be respectful of this reserved space and do NOT park there—a fluorescent yellow sign is a visual reminder that this space is someone’s well-deserved, not to mention paid for, parking space.

The Art Room Needs Your Help!

We have received a generous donation of 11 small strips of ¼” acrylic and would like to use them for mono-prints and other activities in art classes.  Each strip will require 2 cuts 8” long to facilitate classroom use.  If anyone has a saw that will make 8” long cuts in the sheets of acrylic, we would be very grateful for your help.

In addition, we will be doing several art projects relating to architecture and contemporary artists, such as Louis Nevelson next month.  Though we have been diligently saving as many small pieces of wood as possible over the summer in preparation for these activities, we would welcome any small pieces of wood you might want to clear out of your own workrooms.  Please be mindful of the young artist’s hands and send only those pieces with smooth edges.

The Lunchroom Needs Your Help, Too!

Lunchroom volunteers are needed—this offers a great opportunity for parents to see their children during the school day.  You can choose to volunteer for a few hours each week or once a month.  Kindergarten and first grade parents, especially, this is a wonderful chance to volunteer and assist your child in the school/social setting.  Prior experience in opening “Gogurts” and inserting straws in juice boxes is helpful, but we’ll train, if necessary.  Please contact Teri Renner at 816.333.3896 or at jren@kc.rr.com for more information.

Enrichment Opportunities

Please watch for information in next week’s packet regarding Enrichment Opportunities available right here at St. Peter’s School.  There will be a variety of courses for students of all ages, including choir, drama, art, dance, math club, just to name a few.  Most courses will be offered after school—again, please watch for more details next week.
